Magnificent Rivers of Europe River Cruise, Budapest to Amsterdam, October 2027

Avalon Waterways’ Magnificent Rivers of Europe sails the Danube, Main and Rhine between Budapest and Amsterdam over fifteen days, opening with three of the continent’s grand capitals. A local guide introduces the highlights of Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna, with free time built in to explore further, from Budapest’s Heroes’ Square to Bratislava’s cobbled Old Town and a stop in a classic Viennese café.

The route then threads the Wachau Valley to Melk’s Benedictine Abbey, the medieval streets of Passau and Regensburg, and the Franconian wine country around Würzburg and Bamberg. In Rüdesheim, guests wander the cobbled Drosselgasse before the ship sails the dramatic Rhine Gorge toward Cologne, where a guided walk takes in the city’s twin spired Gothic cathedral. The voyage ends in Amsterdam, with a canal cruise past the grand merchant houses of its Golden Age.

Each port offers a choice of included excursions, Active, Classic or Discovery, so guests can hike to a lookout, join a guided city tour, or settle into a wine tasting depending on the day and the port. Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are included onboard throughout. Additional full day and half day excursions, such as visits to Salzburg, Český Krumlov or Schönbrunn Palace, are available at additional cost for guests wishing to extend their time ashore.
