Azamara

Azamara launched in 2007 under Royal Caribbean and has operated independently since 2021. It runs four ships: Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Onward, each carrying around 700 guests. All four were refurbished between 2016 and 2021 and again during drydocks in 2024.

The line is built around a single idea, which it calls Destination Immersion. In practice that means the ships stay in port longer than most, with extended days of ten hours or more ashore, and late-night or overnight stays on more than half of all port calls. Azamara schedules more overnights in Europe and Asia than any comparable line, which changes what a port day is: dinner ashore, a concert, a night in a city rather than a bus tour and a sailaway at five.

AzAmazing Evenings are included on almost every voyage. These are private cultural events held ashore while the ship is still in port, usually in venues not otherwise open to visitors.

At 700 guests the ships reach harbours and anchorages that larger vessels cannot, and the crew-to-guest ratio is close to one to two. Drinks and gratuities are included in the fare.

Azamara suits travellers who care more about where the ship goes and how long it stays than what happens on board.
